Hey, I’m Jimeka.
I help women of faith create spiritual wellness practices to draw closer to God and by extension to themselves. As a spiritual companion, my mission is to support women on their journey to be spiritually well, emotionally whole and fully persuaded that they are image bearers, a true reflection of God.
A wholistic approach
Wellness.
I define Wellness as the intentional, daily commitment to well-being practices for the body, mind and spirit. This is demonstrated in many ways to include meditation, breathing exercises, nature walks, sacred readings, whole foods, sound baths, healthy relationships, community building, a personalized wellness plan, and daily affirmations.
Womanist.
Alice Walker offers several definitions of Womanist in her literary work In Search of Our Mothers’ Gardens: Womanist Prose copyright 1983. One definition explains “From womanish. (Opp. of ‘girlish,’ i.e. frivolous, irresponsible, not serious.) A black feminist or feminist of color. From the black folk expression of mothers to female children, ‘you acting womanish,’ i.e., like a woman. Usually referring to outrageous, audacious, courageous, or willful behavior. Wanting to know more and in greater depth than is considered ‘good’ for one. Interested in grown up doings. Acting grown up. Being grown up. Interchangeable with another black folk expression: ‘You trying to be grown.’ Responsible. In charge. Serious.” Another definition confirms “feminist is to womanist as purple is to lavender.”
Wholeness.
When we combine our Wellness + Womanist framework we create a lifestyle of purpose grounded in passion, wholeness, authenticity, and spiritual expression. We embrace our identity as divine image bearers while simultaneously celebrating the wonders of womanhood in daring, fearless and bold ways. We choose healing and wholeness of self over shallow or superficial acquaintances, and we rejoice in Truth that evolves us into our highest good.
